Scandinavian Toy Institute (STI) is built upon a foundation of over 40 years of research based on more than 60 books and 600 articles dealing with children’s development, play, and learning.

Our Head of Research, Jørn Martin Steenhold, is one of the co-founders of ITRA (International Toy Research Association).

Scandinavian Toy Institute conducts academic research and testing for worldwide toy brands. We have through the years been advising all the Top-3 Toy-manufacturers/companies and hundreds of others in areas such as product development, market trends, competitor analyses, product to market etc..

Our STI testing shows that a toy may, help a child develop musical knowledge, promote mathematical thinking, build vocabulary, build existential knowledge, develope personal knowledge/skills or pave the way for new social skills.

We are able to document specific Play and Learning Value in a product when the product have gone througt the STI test and if its approved after the STI test. Tests are carried out by professional staff with minimum a bachelor’s degrees.
